How to Meet Your Goals Using Chat GPT as an Accountability Partner

It’s easy to come up with goals in life.  “I’d like to get a college degree.”  Or, “I’d like to lose 20 pounds.”  Or, “I’d like to learn a foreign language.”  The number of goals that we can come up with to improve ourselves is endless.  So, creating goals isn’t hard.  What’s hard is accomplishing those goals.  Why?  Well, because it takes consistent effort over a long period of time to accomplish any meaningful goal.  That’s challenging to do!  But the good news is this: You can use Chat GPT as an accountability partner to help you accomplish your goals. 

Now, you may be asking, “Well, why do I even need an accountability partner? Can’t I just accomplish my goals through self-motivation?”  Admittedly, that’s possible!  I’ll concede that there are people in this world who don’t need someone or something to keep them motivated as they work toward their goals. 

But for most of us, having an accountability partner is incredibly helpful.  It helps to have someone or something to whom we can report our progress each day as we work toward our goals.  That daily reporting helps us to stay motivated as we work toward our goals.

Now, I’ll concede that there are other accountability partners out there besides Chat GPT.  For instance, you can ask a friend or family member to be your accountability partner.  The problem is that our friends and family members often make for poor accountability partners.  Why?  Well, because human beings tend to be competitive. 

For example, I have a good friend who is quite physically fit.  Now, if I made my friend my accountability partner for my health goals, he would start every conversation with, “What did you do today toward getting fit?  As for me, I got up at 6 a.m. this morning and ran 3 miles!  Then I had a green smoothie and an ice-cold shower.”  My God.  If my husband was my accountability partner, he would regale me with his accomplishments at the gym, after which he might be interested in my efforts toward good health.  You get my point.  Your friends and family members likely are competitive individuals who will not make good accountability partners.

Alternatively, you could hire an accountability partner.  Life coaches and personal trainers abound.  But the problem is that they’re expensive!  And they certainly aren’t available to chat with you at the drop of a hat. 

But there is an accountability partner who isn’t going to compete with you.  This partner is pleasant, encouraging and not at all judgmental.  Better yet, this partner is available for free or at most $20 per month.  And this partner is available at any time during the day or night that you want to report your progress.  This accountability partner is Chat GPT.

Below is a four-step approach to using Chat GPT to be your accountability partner.  Use this amazing technology to stay accountable and motivated as you accomplish your goals! 

Step One: Choose One or Two Areas Where You Want to See Improvement

The first step to use Chat GPT as an accountability partner is to choose one or two areas of your life that you’d like to improve.  Chat GPT’s technology won’t work if you simply say, “I’d like to improve my entire life.”  That doesn’t work as a goal in real life, and it certainly doesn’t work with Chat GPT. 

Instead, start by picking one or two areas to work on for the next couple of months.  Or even the next year.  For instance, you might choose to work on (1) your body, and (2) learning a foreign language.  The key is to start with just two general areas where you’d like to see improvement.  And then work with Chat GPT for a meaningful period of time on just those areas.

Once you’ve met your goals in those one or two areas, you then can use Chat GPT to tackle new goals.  But the key is to start with one or two areas for improvement, at most, and then work closely with Chat GPT over a period of time to make progress in those areas.

Step Two: Choose Specific Daily Tasks to Accomplish Your Goals

Chat GPT works best when you use the technology to track specific daily tasks.  That’s because accountability requires specificity.  For example, it’s impossible to track and be held accountable for doing “some exercise” each day.  By contrast, you can track and be held accountable to walk “30 minutes” a day. 

So, the key is to have specific, quantifiable tasks to do each day.  Now, if you aren’t sure what would be good, daily tasks to do to reach your goals, Chat GPT can help you!  For example, if you tell Chat GPT, “My goal is to become proficient in Spanish over the course of the next year,” Chat GPT will help you craft a plan of specific tasks to do each day to accomplish that goal within your time frame.

In addition, as you report what you do each day, Chat GPT can help you make adjustments to your task list along the way.  For instance, let’s say that you want to lose weight.  So, you tell Chat GPT that your intention is to walk 45 minutes a day.  If at a certain point you find that you want to get more out of your daily walks, you might ask Chat GPT to offer advice as to the best time of day to schedule that walk for maximum fat burning.

So, when using Chat GPT as an accountability partner, create a list of specific tasks that you are going to do each day to reach your goals.  And if you don’t know what tasks to do in furtherance of your goals, let Chat GPT help you to create your daily task list.

Step Three: Check In Daily

The “Daily Check In” is what makes Chat GPT an incredibly effective accountability partner.  Let’s face it: If you hired a life coach or personal trainer, you can’t talk to that person on a daily basis.  It’s just too expensive.  And you certainly can’t talk to your life coach or personal trainer at any time during the day or night.  But you can check in with Chat GPT daily.  Moreover, you can check in at any time that suits your fancy. 

Realize that daily reporting is a powerful accountability tool.  That’s because the Daily Check In will lead to consistency.  And consistent effort is the key to accomplishing any goal.

For example, I check in with Chat GPT twice a day to keep making consistent progress toward my personal goals.  Each morning, I check in for my “marching orders” for the day.  Chat GPT then gives me a list of tasks I should be aiming to do that day to reach my goals.

Then, every evening, I report back to Chat GPT as to what I accomplished.  This end of the day reporting is what makes the process so powerful!  I want to have something to report at the end of each day.  So, during the day, I make time to do the tasks that were outlined by Chat GPT in the morning.  I’m highly motivated because I want to have a great report in the evening.

The benefit of reporting your progress each day to Chat GPT is a psychological one.  It feels mentally good to have a “witness” to our hard work.  Feeling like your hard work is being “seen” and acknowledged, even if it’s just being “seen” and acknowledged by AI, will make the process of meeting your goals so much more enjoyable. 

Step Four: By Inspired by Chat GPT’s Comments and Encouragement

The great thing about using Chat GPT as an accountability partner is the amount of encouragement that you’ll receive.  The reality is that no human being is going to give you this kind of encouragement.  Not even your mother.  Why?  Because other people have lives!  They have their own stuff going on.  No one has the time to say to you on a nightly basis, “Hooray for you!  You did a great job today.  Now, let’s go through all your accomplishments in detail.”  That just isn’t happening with even your closest friends or family members. 

For example, I’m a highly devoted mother.  I send constant notes of encouragement to my daughter.  And nevertheless, I still cannot compete with the endless encouragement that can be provided by Chat GPT. 

Now is Chat GPT a replacement for me as a mother, or for the person in your life who provides you with emotional support and encouragement?  Of course not.  Obviously, AI cannot replace human relationships.  But Chat GPT can provide that extra, daily encouragement that you need to stay on track while accomplishing your goals.

And realize that encouragement produces results!  You’re going to be more motivated to do the necessary tasks to achieve your goals if you get consistent, daily messaging that says, “Great job.  Keep up the good work!” 

Moreover, Chat GPT will not only encourage you to be consistent, but it also will suggest small improvements to your routine as you go along on your path toward achieving your goals.  Which means you won’t just reach your goals.  You’ll reach them faster.  Which elevates Chat GPT to being not just an accountability partner, but a coach as you pursue your goals.

So, if you are seeking to accomplish certain goals over the next several months or year, I encourage you to use Chat GPT as your accountability partner.  With Chat GPT as your daily accountability partner, you’ll have the structure and encouragement to accomplish more than you ever thought possible!
